Every day I read about the negatives of global warming, but rarely see a counterargument – of which there are – all arguments have two sides. Basic knowledge tells me that plants use the sun for energy, CO2 for photosynthesis, and water, as main ingredients to flourish. Global warming will increase the availability of these three basic elements for growth – why then is global warming so bad?
Glaciers melt away into the sea and the greater abundance of water increases the humidity in the air, which leads to higher level of precipitation, and snowfall in the higher mountain ranges. Therefore, it is proven fact that on the higher levels of the mountains above 2000 m, the glaciers have been growing while the lower level glaciers have been shrinking. On Kilimanjaro, the glacier has been melting, even though the temperature at the peak has cooled over the last thirty years.
The plant growing season due to global warming has lengthened in most ice deserts like Alaska and Siberia, and, in the grain baskets of the world, better returns from crops have been achieved due to less crop freezes and chills. Yields of wheat, rice, potato and cassava are increasing.
The greater water mass will result in increased fisheries’ yield and food growth; the return of salmon to rivers in the Arctic indicate the natural migration of fish to geographic areas where the species might have spawned in previous warm periods. Warmer weather and water lead to lower winter mortality and longer growth periods.
Global warming may lead to desertification of arid areas, but it will also lead to de-desertification of what are currently ice deserts such as Siberia, Canada, Alaska, and even Greenland. People and animals will migrate like they have always done.
Rather than to try to change the world, man should manage the world with what we were given. Objectivity is required, and the thought left with you is not what man does to generate new ideas, but what man does with what he has, which makes him either an outstanding or an average human being.
